the weather suddenly got warmer again, so no need for a coat during the day. cardigans and vests are plenty. i wanted to highlight the silver hardware on the shoes so i added the belt and necklace. the marnis were a random find on ebay. i think they look adorable with socks.

i wanted to show a second way to wear the shoes completely different from the first. this time i paired it with an insane suede cape. my friend mia found it while we were thrifting and knew i had to have it. its not a very practical piece because of how heavy it is, but then again, a lot of things i gravitate toward arent. i hope i find an occasion to actually use it someday!

the wangs were a early xmas gift to myself. ive wanted them for sooo long, but never got around to getting them. im so glad i finally caved and bought them. they are just so pretty in person. they go with everything and can withstand heavy duty weather. perfect.

-edit- i got a few questions about the silver dress i was wearing, it was a school project i made a couple weeks ago. the fabric was a metallic knit i found at my school's scholarship store. cut in one piece on bias, sew line down the center front and back.

our friend christian had a photo exhibit on saturday. the idea was to show 100 photos of 100 people, nothing too styled or posed, it was about letting the individual's personality come through in the photos. i was excited to be a part of it, along with a lot of our friends who i got to see up on the wall of photos. their personalities really shone though, and it was interesting to see how each person interpreted themselves on film. here are the results.

this was from a few weeks ago @ la cita monday night. in the first photo we were instructed to "not smile." i look so severe. definitely not the look for me. lol. this week i made a few winter purchases im excited about, including a thrifted teddybear scarf. sounds weird, but its really cute. it kind of pokes fun of those vintage fox scarfs that skin the entire fox with the head and tail attached.
anyway, sorry for the lack of posts this week. finals is coming up, but after that, im free! :) well, for a little while at least.

a few weeks ago i picked up my friend david for a hangout sesh and he gave me a little present. its a jacket i saw him wear in a photo and i just loooved and adored it. im really glad he thought of me when he decided to recycle the jacket. its now my new favorite piece. its really beautiful in person. thanks again, david!

ive always loved a crisp white shirt. i recently bought this one by funktional that has cut out shoulders. its a nice twist to the classic white shirt. i found this bib necklace at my school's scholarship store. at $2 i really couldnt say no. its the perfect addition to a collared shirt, much like a bowtie, but more feminine.

a few weeks ago i went to an art show at barracuda. i really cant remember much from that night, but kelly sent me this photo she had of us. and of course i donned another white shirt. its been my uniform lately.

last week i learned how to make bustiers. its probably one of the garments i enjoy making the most. there are so many options and different directions you can go. in class we were asked to make a bustier + skirt combo. i made it out of a slightly shimmery light pink fabric and the skirt is sort of a patchwork panel of pinks and silver. very girly, i know. i took it a step further by adding chains, sequins, and pearls on the front of the bustier (inspiration taken from the miu miu tights).

ps. sorry the skirt is so wrinkled. :P

sunday was kellys 24th bday party. we headed to moonlight for some 70s style skating. we were definitely the only ones skating in fur. but regardless of the weird looks we all kept getting, it was a super fun night and here are the photos to prove it..

last week kelly and i headed to the vice anniversary party. it was 90s theme night so we decided to grunge it up a bit. i wanted to keep it girly so i went with my baby pink gunne sax dress and paired it with the red chloes. the line was rediculously long and i was in no mood to stand around so we went to val's loft event instead. needless to say we felt like we were "a blast from the past" for the rest of the night, since the later party did not require 90s attire. -sigh- another reason why i do not like themed parties..
