(Drifter dress, All Saints leather jacket, Zara heels, Theyskens' Theory bag, Acne beanie)

A couple weeks back Shawn came home for the holidays and we went to a quaint little coffee shop in DTLA called Daily Dose. It was so nice to catch up with a familiar face. It had been months since I last saw him. As some of you guys know, Shawn was a big part of my life for the last 4 years. Last year we decided to part ways and remain friends while he moved to Washington to pursue his schooling. It was a pretty rough break up in the beginning and I never really talked about it much on my blog but I feel a lot more comfortable talking about it now that there has been some time and distance. As the old saying goes, time heals all. It's been almost a year since the breakup and I'm happy that we've been able to remain really good friends. The big lesson I learned is that sometimes heartbreak is necessary and sometimes important people were meant to be in your life in a different way than you had imagined. It doesn't mean you love them any less, just differently. Till this day I can say that we are each others biggest supporters and he is still one of my best friends.

And since this is also a fashion blog, lets get into the nitty gritty and discuss what to wear when meeting with an ex-boyfriend for the first time in 4 months. Now I know a lot of girls (including myself) have this dream scenario in their heads of running into an ex looking hot and amazing while he's slumming it in his gym shorts looking like a mess and suddenly he feels sorry for dumping you. But truthfully, the best way to go is to be yourself and dress for yourself. So naturally I wore a t-shirt dress and a beanie. Slightly underwhelming, but I did throw on a pair of comfy heels for effort. It's exactly what I would wear on any given day of the week. Because at the end of the day it's better to focus on an interesting conversation than the pain of your sky high heels or how tight your dress is.

  2. The Daily Dose cafe is one of my favorite spots for lunch. Your outfit is gorgeous and looks extremely comfortable. I'm also glad to hear that you and Shawn have remained friends, and totally agree that sometimes heartbreak can be a good thing. I love your positive attitude.
