Oh hello, November! My 30th birthday passed last weekend and I kicked off the day with lunch in DTLA at Bottega Louie with my family. It feels strange saying goodbye to my twenties, but I am embracing the next chapter in my life with open arms. This is the time where huge things happen, right? I remember in my early twenties every little thing would bother me and feel like the end of the world, but not so much anymore. I have learned to let a lot of things go, especially when they are things I have no control over. You save yourself a lot of stress and time and you move on. I would say that is the biggest lesson I have learned from my twenties. Think about it this way, when something upsets you and makes you unhappy now, will this thing still be the cause of unhappiness in a year? a month? a week? If the answer is no, which most things are, then let it go. Take it from an old fart like me, your life will be much happier this way!

And now onto the outfit.. Florals are obviously a staple for summertime, but they are also a great staple for autumn too. First, look for floral prints in a darker color palette. I love how the floral on this dress mimics autumn leaves. Second, look for dresses in a winter body. Although this dress is lightweight, the long sleeves and high neckline make it feel winter appropriate. And lastly, pair with dark accessories. The easiest way to make your ensemble work for transitional weather is with your accessories. I usually opt for black, but deep hues of burgundy, navy or forest green work just as well.

So, lessons to take away from today: 1. Don't sweat the small stuff. 2. Wear florals in fall!
